the greatest feeling

January 2004 i had recently graduated school and, after a brief week in new york (my first time there) I borded a $125 one-way flight to cancun
I stayed at a backpacker hostel on an island nearby and, among many others, met a couple of adult norwegian guys who were biking around mexico. Gunnar and Oskar
all i had brought was a small bag with little more than a toothbrush, swiss army knife, and change of clothes.
the next day I hopped in a cab, eventually found a bike shop, and a few hours later i was on my way.
it was hot and dry, the road was wide and flat, the wind was at my back, my legs were spinning furiously, and everything was in front of me. link

Pages

A couple pages that have inspired me:

http://www.kenkifer.com/bikepages/index.htm

Though Kifer is much more dogmatic about cycling than me, I generally agree with a lot of his opinions and his overall ethos. The page is somewhat of a soap box, but has been a great longstanding biking resource

http://www3.utsidan.se/corax-e/

As far as I know, still the best hardcore long-distance touring travelogue out there. The site has beautiful pictures, great stories, and the guy's ruggedness easily shows through. "What it all comes down to in the end is your legs, determination and the ability to improvise"
The Murphy and Schitzo tours under the "travels" link are particularly good

Intro

This blog is the space for me to post my bike-related thoughts, ideas, reflections, etc.
To be honest I have no idea as to what will end up on this page so I won't try and predict. If I can keep it up, surely it will develop over time
